Chemical Peels 101: Everything You Need to Know
Chemical peels offer an incredibly effective cosmetic solution to exfoliate your skin, stimulating cell turnover and revealing a healthier, more glowing complexion. The fully customizable treatments will improve the appearance of the skin on your face, neck, or hands, with dramatic results that last. Here’s all you know about chemical peels and what they can do for you.
What Is a Chemical Peel?
A chemical peel is a skin rejuvenating treatment that involves the application of a chemical solution to the skin’s surfaces for rapid resurfacing. The skin will exfoliate and peel off, removing dead cells and impurities, and leaving you with a smoother, healthier, and more youthful-looking complexion.
At Ajeless Health and Medical Spa, we offer a range of peels to treat various skin conditions. While massaging your face, we incorporate individualized combinations of cleansers, exfoliants, creams, serums, and moisturizers, depending on your unique needs and treatment goals.
What Are the Levels of Chemical Peels?
We’re pleased to offer different levels of peels: superficial, medium, and deep.
Superficial or Lunchtime Peels: Alpha-hydroxy or other mild acids penetrate the outer layer of the skin to gently exfoliate it. These light chemical peels help improve the appearance of mild skin discoloration, wrinkles, superficial acne scars, and rough skin and rejuvenate the face, neck, chest, or hands. Superficial peels require little to no downtime.
Medium Chemical Peels: Medium peels involve using glycolic acid or trichloroacetic acid to target the outer and middle layers of the skin, removing dead skin cells and impurities. They improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, uneven skin tone, acne scars, freckles, and moderate skin discoloration. Medium peels can also enhance the skin’s tone, texture, health, and appearance.
Deep Chemical Peels: Trichloroacetic acid or phenol deeply penetrate the middle layer of the skin to remove damaged cells. These intense peels improve the appearance of deeper lines and wrinkles, shallow scars, freckles, and skin tone and texture, with dramatic, long-lasting results. Deep chemical peels can only be used on the face and can only be performed once.
